This course will be a discussion and review of the Musculoskeletal System as it applies to Massage Therapy and will include the muscles and joints of the head, neck and upper back. This review will include the movements of the muscles and how they may relate to a client condition or work environment. The muscles reviewed will be both superficial and deep muscles and how they can be addressed in standard Swedish Massage.
Muscles will include but not be limited to the following head, neck and upper back muscles:
Upper Trapezius, Scalenes, Sternocleidomastoid, Masseter, temporals, Occipitalis, Frontalis, Levator Scapulae, Splenius Capitus, Splenius Cervicis
Students will review the muscles along with hands-on for the specified muscles while using clinical reasoning skills to address the muscles.
Standard table linens and oil, cream or lotion are required. Please bring your favorite Anatomy book for reference.
