Manual Lymphatic Technique is a manual technique that uses very light pressure strokes delivered in specific sequences to stimulate lymphatic vessels and improve normal lymphatic uptake and flow to maintain normal fluid balance. The lymphatic system is often described as the “other circulatory system” and houses the main components of the body’s immune system. Students will gain appreciation for the palpation skill and potency of such a light touch. The basic core information presented is a stand-alone treatment or may be easily incorporated into any bodywork session. Level I covers basic anatomy and physiology, a basic neck routine, nodes of the axilla, inguinal and deep abdominal regions, along with major abdominal sphincters. When appropriately applied, it will take your practice to the next level! Bring an open mind and heart, questions, and gentle touch.
*Please note: Completion of this course does not enable students to treat Stage ll and Stage lll Lymphedema, which requires the knowledge and application of Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (CDPT) and is not covered in this curriculum at this time.
