More than 50 million adults are affected by arthritis. New studies from the National Institute of Health (NIH) now show that massage can be an effetive tool in pain reduction for the arthritic client. In this class we will explore the many different types of arthritis and the unique class of drugs used to treat each type. What are the side effects of these drugs and how will they change the delivery of your massage? What types of pressures and strokes are most effective when working with the arthritic client? Learn how to add the use of warm stones to help ease joint discomfort. How massage and scar tissue mobilization post joint replacement can help ease the stiffness that often remains post-surgery.
This class is both lecture and hands-on.
